A set of videos made for a Manhattan cable access television program entitled "R". Each program was a repetitive series of actions or events. Wedged in between the conventional cable television channels, the programs were never meant to be watched from beginning to end, but rather encountered in the discursive trip around the dial. The title is a reference to Erik Satie compositions which were exceedingly long and never intended for performance, but also refers my attempt to turn the television back into mere furniture rather than the communication/entertainment device that sits in our living room.
