Based on a scientific demonstration. It ostensibly shows what occurs during atomic fission—the process that takes place inside nuclear reactors and atomic bombs. Ominous and violent images culled from Hollywood films surround the mundane and absurd materials that play out the demonstration. There is a call by the head of Raymond Massey to all earth creatures not to allow "this powerful phenomenon, recently discovered by science, to be used in the development of weapons of mass destruction." (Or did he say mouse destruction?)
